MacBook

I got myself MacBook before I left the UK – one of the new white Intel ones – the cheaper version. I didn’t need one, but I figured I should know more about Macs, so I got one.

It looks pretty and feels nice, but so far I’ve got two complaints…

  • The keyboard takes too much effort to type on. I find that it misses letters too often because I’ve not hit the key hard enough. It’s a pretty major problem at the moment but I’m hoping I’ll get used to it.
  • It’s not got enough memory. It copes just about ok but it could certainly do with more! Obviously money can solve this problem, but the point was that it was a (relatively) cheap toy – especially having used my girlfriends student card! It’ll end up hers in the end anyway.

These two problems will only affect me for a year however, because I’ve got a secret plan! Sshhh! I’m going to buy a 17″ pro when I get back from Peru – and it’ll be core 2 by then. Can’t wait. I’ll bootcamp it and use it for my windows work too. Mmmm.

Now I can’t decide whether to use the Mac or PC to do my Rails work… decisions, decisions.

Welcome to TidyApps

TidyApps is the name of my new venture – web applications. And hopefully they’ll be tidy or I’ll have to get a new domain!

I’m new to this game. Currently I do c-sharp* windows apps – big distributed bespoke things – so it should be an interesting path of discovery. I’ll be (b)logging my adventure so please RSS up and come along for the ride.

ps To add to the excitement, I’ve just moved to Cusco (Peru) from the UK with my new litle hijo. Pics here.

* Where the hell is the hash key on this mac? This journey is going to be tough!
